Julia Escudero – Throug the storms

16/03/1725

The obscure storm took control of the sea that surrounded us.The ship was difficult to control, the crew members found it hard to open their eyes. Some of the hats ended up flying and landing on the ferocious waves, we’ve never been through a gale of such magnitude.

Luckily or not, Noen Kidd was by my side. Even though he was a great crewman and my most truthful one, he had a huge weakness for women and unluckily I wasn’t the exception. Kidd was kind and attractive I have to admit, but sometimes he forgot about our relationship and flirted with other women. That always made me mad and jealous.

As I was saying, Noen was with me at the helm. Both of us were managing on straightening up the ship as much as we could, but the strong weather and waves succeeded on making us lose control. After some minutes, we could finally leave the storm behind.

I have to admit that even being the captain, I’ve never kept up with gales. Yes, the infamous Aurah Teach had a huge apprehension of strong weather conditions.Once all of it ended the crew started working again while I went to my favorite part of my ship, the prow. Its floor was partly broken but there was still some wood were I could stand. While I was looking at the sea, I felt two arms around my waist to pull me into a hug. It was Noen. He was three years older than me and not much taller than me .

After two years in a relationship, Noen knew perfectly how to make me calm down after a storm. He only had to hug me and stay silent. I slowly let my head fall backwards so I could rest on his shoulder. Without looking up at him, I knew we were both looking at the sea as if it was ours.

Noen made me face him and without noticing, he put his beloved hat on me. He then bent down a little and whispered in my ear that a captain shouldn’t be ashamed of her fears. When he stood up again, he looked at me and placed a feather like kiss on my lips. Calipso knows how much I adore this man.

Two days after, we were with the crew drinking rum and singing happily. Noen looked at me and promised to give me the England’s commodore hat. I smiled happily at it.

What I didn’t know is that those were the last words I would ever listen from him. Another gale formed around us. It wasn’t as strong as the last one, but it was enough to make Noen fall off the ship and be dragged to the depths of the sea.

And if you ask me about my loot, I won’t come out saying my ship, gold or jewels. My most appreciated thing right now is his hat, the one that lays on my head. The object that could make me kill even the most powerful governor if he tried to steal it from me.
